Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Wow, it's been over two months since I last updated. Life is, um... crazy right now. Everything has changed!

Including the fact that I have 1200 messages on here. I haven't checked anything in two weeks. x: lol

So. Let's see. I went through an incredibly hard May - early July. Life wasn't what I wanted it to be anymore and I felt like I was going to lose it and jump off a bridge or something. lol It wasn't fun and I'm so glad that's behind me now, for the most part.

I met someone and he's just so amazing. He's made me happier than I've been in probably a year and we've only been dating slightly less than a month!! It feels like a lot longer, but these past few weeks have been insaaaane. They've felt like a years worth of time and yet have gone by fairly quickly.

I left my job at the end of June, thank goodness. It was miserable there and I just couldn't do it anymore. So I had about a month off and then I started my GED classes two days ago! Eeee, you guys, I'm so happy this is in the making now. I will seriously be so excited to get this done and continue forward with my life. College and a career and then perhaps I'll start thinking about a family of some kind. Who knows?

I'm going to start looking for a job once my classes really get into gear so I know how much I can handle. I'll just do a part time retail job to help pay for gas and some bills and not worry about something more until I'm really into college. I don't mind taking a few years to get to where I want - I want to be happy during it and not totally overwhelmed!

I'm going to keep on being busy for a while and I don't know when I'll ever get back into art. I don't have time right now, but I don't have that passion for it anymore and that really sucks, because I still owe things. I'm not sure what to do about that... any ideas? D:

I mentioned I was getting a six week old kitten in my last journal... well, we got two. And they're already over three months old now. Craziness. They're ridiculously adorable and fun and also annoying. I love them. <3

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES WAS AMAZING I WANT TO SEE IT FOR A THIRD TIME UGH I'M ALSO REALLY CRAVING POPCORN.

Sounds like you had a tough summer but that it's ending on a great note. I've had such a fun summer myself. I haven't quite found true love yet, but I've done everything from skydiving and snorkeling to climbing a mountain.
